Elias Thor Nelson

As Elias gets older, I watch with wonder at the changes both big and small. He is kind and considerate, and a blessing to me and my family. This year I have been really gratified to see how being involved with the native student program has encouraged him to incorporate his heritage into his life. It has allowed him to find a framework in which to consider the history of America in a different light. This summer he will travel to Alaska for the first time in 4 years and he will bring with him a willingness and desire to learn about the Tlingit culture. He is especially interested in learning the songs and dances of his people.

Abbey is beautiful young lady who takes pride in all of her endeavors. She loves to read, and write fictional stories. Abbey's accomplishments this year are many but I am not surprised her heart is open to everything and everyone. In addition to her academics, Abbey love's to play soccer, karate-green leader belt, orchestra-violin, choir, and skiing. Abbey received an award this year as a "Peace Builder" and Abbey love's having a little buddy in the first grade, young children love her. Abbey love's her culture and takes great pride in herself, and her family. Her goal is to learn the language of our People, I have no doubt that she will master that as well. I want to say "Kleco-Kleco" daughter, I am proud of you.
