Holds Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL) classes and
information to help students prepare and successfully complete
the state battery of tests; |

Presents acting, storytelling, writing, and drumming classes taught
by recognized Native professionals such as Elaine Miles, Roger
Fernandez, and Lawney Reyes; |

Offers a Resume Writing Workshop for secondary students; |
| +
Provides Higher Education Scholarship information for high school
seniors; |

Conducts field trips to institutions of higher learning such as
the University of Washington, Bellevue Community College, Shoreline
Community College, the Lake Washington Vocational Institute,
and the Burke Museum; |

Tracks students to insure that they are on track to graduate on
time; |

Assists students in finding academic help (tutors) when there is
a need; |

Ends the academic year in June with the Student Recognition Banquet
that honors the program students' accomplishments; |

Sponsors a Silent Auction in the spring to raise additional funds
for student activities; |

Helps find other kinds of resources for families within their community; |

Provides ongoing bi-monthly Cultural Activities at 7:00 pm on Monday
evenings at Lake View Elementary School, 10400 NE 68th, Kirkland
(Map
Quest). |

Involves the program students in ongoing service projects, such
as the KIRO Foster Children Holiday Wish, Operation Sack Lunch,
Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and collecting food for families within
the program. |
